As well as client entertainment opportunities at the ceremony (guest tables are normally included), sponsorship can also provide significant networking benefits, as the award brand can provide a platform for the sponsors to publicise their involvement through the various media. Other less tangible benefits can include increasing brand awareness and associating the brand with the excellence and best practice which the awards are designed to recognise.

The various stages of the (often prolonged) publicity period enhance the potential value of award sponsorship. The run-up to the event will, invariably, include numerous announcements, firstly to encourage applicants, then to advise on submission deadlines, and subsequently to announce shortlists, finalists, attendance at ceremonies, etc. Next there is the awards ceremony itself (sometimes offering live online streaming of the event), and this is followed by another round of post-award announcements detailing the winners, judges' comments, trade press coverage, etc.
